📍Welcome to ICT Blog
Congratulations on your treasure discovery (My blog😜) ! In the next couple of weeks I will share with you a lot of information and communication technologies (ICT) that may be helpful to you in teaching English. If you can't wait to learn more about ICT, whether you are a novice English teacher or an experienced English teacher, you can discover the new possibilities created by technology in the following blogs:
📍Be cautious
However, as you read these blogs, please keep in mind that there is no one-size-fits-all technology in TESOL. If you feel that a certain tool is perfect, you are likely to have fallen into a marketing trap! Nik's Learning Technology Blog could be an example, you can access it here.
As you can see, this blog is made up of black and white, with a concise but somewhat boring layout. It contains images, videos, navigation and many links directly to their products, such as apps, digital tools, eBooks and lesson plans. While the benefits of these resources may be real, as presented in the blog, the blogger hides some information that may prevent you from downloading them:
- They are not free!
- They may deskill you!
- They may not be suitable for your context!
Such a blog is essentially an advertisement, like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Honestly, there is no shame in making money by blogging (I also want to 👻). But as a potential consumer, whether it is worth the cost to you is a question. In my blog, I promise you that the presentation on technology will be as detailed and critical as possible for you to refer to its value to your teaching.

ReplyDeleteHi Phyo,
DeleteThank you for your positive comment, it gives me a lot of encouragement 🥳 ! This is my first time blogging and I hope I can bring you more surprises in my following blogs.
Yu
Hi Yu, I like you page really really~ I don't know where this feeling comes from, but I think your blog is really vivid and lovely! I like the idea you put a small remote control lever before your subtitle. They are attractive for me. You chose red color to highlight your important information. That is a nice choice. It does attract me to pay attention on it haha. Especially, the red color in the "be cautious" paragraph makes the word porwerful, that's amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Fay,
DeleteCan I just say that your comment made my day? I will continue to work on making my blog more engaging and meaningful.
Yu
Hi Mia / Yu - Wow, so many comments already - your blog has really taken off like a rocket!! I can hardly believe you have not blogged before - you are a natural! Your title is perfect in this context - yes some blogs just seem like hidden adverts.. and we are so tired of that kind of thing! I'm happy to see that you are promising to be honest and as useful as possible in your reviews - great! The picture of the wolf in sheep's clothing is very apt - don't forget to acknowledge the source and only use copyright-free images! I loved reading your blog - I'm sure you will thrive in the blogging world!
ReplyDeleteHi Tilly, thank you for your comment, it has given me great encouragement. I'll keep exploring the blog and hopefully I'll enjoy this journey!
DeleteHi, Yu. Your title is very attractive and the tone and perspective you apply in your blog make me plug in the content, create an intimate connection with the blog, and make the reading experience better. And I also love the little accessory in front of the subheading which not only emphasizes the structure, but also makes the whole look more vivid. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mona. I'm glad you like my blog 💗 !
